Fred Villeneuve, Proprietor Ferdie's Key Shop

Fred Villeneuve is a third generation locksmith. His grandfather Ferdinand started Ferdie's Key Shop Fred Villeneuve in nearby Norton, Massachusetts in the thirties. Fred's father Fred Sr.continued the business when the shop moved to the corner of Water and Main St. where the Apex building stands today. Fred Sr. also repaired screens, sharpened lawn mowers, knifes and scissors besides practicing a trade he was very skilled at. Fred Sr. taught just about all his relatives the locksmith trade. Fred's aunt Yvonne became the area's first female locksmith. Fred's uncle Ron continues a very successful locksmith business in Orlando.

In the mid sixties Fred Sr. moved the shop to it's present location at 234 East Avenue. More than thirty years have passed and still Ferdie's has the longest established locksmith shop in Pawtucket. Locks and locksmithing are Fred's life. Picking up the trade just came naturally for Fred, who made his first house call on his own at the age of sixteen. Impressioning, lock picking, and safe manipulation are just some of the talents Fred became proficient in. Fred is a member of the Associated Locksmiths Of America. Today Fred's son Eric is working along side his dad just like his dad and his dad before him, continuing the family tradition right into the next millennium.
